Sumico's Strengths
1. Sales
It is difficult to easily select the optimal lubricant for each machine with different operating conditions and environments. This is especially true in the special lubricant market, which is our forte, where general lubricants cannot meet the needs. For this reason, we have sales offices in two major cities, Tokyo and Osaka, to meet the needs of our customers. In addition, in overseas markets, we have established a local subsidiary in Shanghai, China, as a bridgehead, and are actively expanding our business, mainly in Asia.
In order to provide the optimal product selection and usage methods in response to customer requests, it is essential to accumulate product knowledge on a daily basis. With our extensive product lineup, we can propose an infinite number of solutions. Therefore, we share usage examples for each customer and utilize them as a database. As for the training system, we conduct training for sales employees to develop them as "sales engineers," and we are constantly striving to meet diverse needs in a detailed manner.
2. Development
Our research, which began with the effective use of molybdenite as a lubricant, has evolved from technology for ultra-fine pulverization of molybdenite to oil dispersion technology. In today's rapidly advancing high-tech industries, it is necessary not only to apply established technologies but also to quickly develop new technologies without being bound by existing concepts. Our development system includes groups for each product field and a group for research and analysis, and we are working to quickly respond to the diverse needs of our customers.
Our products, which are premised on being used under harsh conditions such as oils used under high temperatures of 200°C or more, greases used in places where extreme pressure or water is applied, and dry films that require permanent lubrication, are commercialized after many trials and tests.
In addition, the elimination of regulated substances that lead to environmental pollution, global warming, and deterioration of the working environment is now a natural responsibility. Recognizing "environment and safety" as important issues, we constantly conduct product development aimed at improving performance while considering regulated substances. We continue to strive day and night to provide the best products and application methods that meet the needs of the market.
3. Production
Our factory, which originated in the Central Research Laboratory of Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd., is designed with a focus on rationality and safety, and manufactures lubricants centered on oils and greases.
Our factory operates under the ISO9001 and ISO14001 systems, based on the belief that "strict product quality is born from a well-maintained work environment and clear work regulations." We efficiently handle small-lot, high-mix production of 350 product types and 1,500 products, ranging from drums (200L) to 5g tubes, with a small number of people, incorporating automation where possible.
The quality of lubricants makes a significant difference in the management and maintenance of equipment, machinery, automobiles, and the like. At our company, we strive daily to maintain and improve the quality of our products so that they can perform at their best and be used with confidence.
In addition to developing quality control policies, we also implement strict quality control, such as organizing and utilizing data accumulated over many years, and conducting thorough testing and quality inspections. We are proud that this commitment to quality has led to high customer support for our products. We will continue to strive to create high-quality products that satisfy our customers.
Quality / Environmental Policy
Certified to meet ISO 9001
Our Factory has been certified to meet “ISO 9001”, which was one of the quality management system, in September 21, 1998 by the Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers(JUSE).
In our factory, we manufacture the hundreds types of special lubricants. Therefore, this certification means that we have the global quality management system which can be provided the high quality products, in the process of purchasing, manufacturing and shipping of them.

Environmental Policy
Sumico Lubricant Co., Ltd. manufactures and markets the lubricants that is mainly industrial oils and greases, and they play an important role in every industrial machinery fields, by reducing friction which lead to improved fuel consumption, reduced noise and vibration and prolonged life of parts of machines.
As a member of the Sumitomo Metal Mining Group, which has overcome environmental problems for over four hundred years in their mining/refining business, Sumico Lubricant Co., Ltd. succeeds to spirits and wisdom of our seniors and contributes to the reduction of environmental impact through the lubricant business. Furthermore to pass down the beautiful and comfortable earth to the next generation, we will engage environmental conservation activities voluntarily and continually with establishing the following environmental policies.
1. We shall set up an environmental goal and target and tackle environmental protection activities through participation by every employee as much as technically and financially possible, and work to maintain and improve environmental performance by regularly reviewing the goal and target. 2. We shall comply with the laws, regulations and ordinances provided to protect the environment and other requirements that we agreed upon. 3. We shall continually improve the environmental management system and work to improve quality of the environmental protection system and prevent environmental pollution. 4. We shall promote activities with priority on the following items, regarding activities in the divisions of production, development and administration of lubricants. (1)We shall work for sorted collection of wastes and increase reuse and recycling. (2)We shall promote energy conservation activities, such as saving electricity in production equipment and incidental facilities. (3)We shall work to reduce environmental load substances (chlorofluorocarbon, lead, etc.) 5. We shall make this Environmental policy thoroughly known to all the employees and also disclose it to the general public.

Supporting Activities
Dakar Rally
Since 1999, we have been providing lubricants and technical support for these products to Team Sugawara. We support Team Sugawara, which participates in the "Dakar" rally, as well as the "Pharaoh Rally" and "Rally Raid Mongolia," and contribute to the team's good results.
